The project
A heritage structure in Mumbai was carefully stripped back and restored to create a healing centre for meditation, yoga and counselling. The architecture itself became the starting point—high ceilings, colonial arches, exposed rafters and beautiful, diffused light were allowed to take centre stage.
The restoration was painstaking, with the original rafters and details repaired by hand and preserved wherever possible. The main counselling room was designed to feel more like a home than a clinic, with informal seating and a small pantry for coffee and conversation.
The meditation space is deliberately pared back, its all-white interiors, open rafters and sunlight creating a quiet sense of stillness. Refurbished colonial furniture and generous greenery bring warmth and an old-world quality to the spaces.
The project was ultimately about restraint: restoring what was already beautiful and creating an environment where the architecture, light and the experience of the person take precedence.
