Sonia Gehlot
“where order meets whimsy”

The Studio
Sonia Gehlot
Sonia Gehlot is an interior designer and the founder of Sonia Gehlot Designs, a Mumbai-based design studio creating interiors that balance architectural clarity with personality.
Her work is guided by a simple philosophy: Order & Whimsy—the belief that a well-designed space should have a sense of structure and calm, but never feel too perfect. The most memorable interiors, she believes, leave room for surprise, individuality and a little bit of play.
With a sensitivity to proportion, materiality, colour and light, Sonia creates spaces that feel considered without feeling overly designed. She is drawn to the dialogue between old and new—repurposing what has meaning, juxtaposing unexpected materials and giving familiar objects a new context.
From private residences and second homes to hospitality and workspaces, each project begins with understanding the people who will inhabit it. The aim is not to impose a signature style, but to create spaces that feel distinctly their own: comfortable, layered, thoughtful and a little unexpected.
Based in Mumbai, Sonia’s work has been featured in Architectural Digest, Elle Décor and GoodHomes. She was named Young & Upcoming Talent of the Year at the Elle Décor x KBDA Awards in 2022.
