The Seagull Cafe

Set within Breach Candy Hospital, Seagull Café was conceived as a change of pace from the clinical environment around it—a bright, informal space where patients, doctors and caregivers can pause, gather and recharge.

The design takes its cue from the café’s setting beside the sea. A palette of cream, yellow and ocean blue brings a sense of optimism to the space, while a large-scale seascape mural extends the horizon indoors. White rafters, simple furniture and playful artworks keep the interiors light and unfussy, allowing natural light to do much of the work.

A white railing running along the mural adds to the illusion of being by the water, while warm pendant lights soften the space as the day progresses. The result is a café that feels distinctly removed from the hospital around it—fresh, welcoming and quietly restorative.
