The project

Set within a 1920s building overlooking the Arabian Sea, TRANQUILA is a 3,000 sq ft home designed as a calm counterpoint to the intensity of Mumbai. The original high ceilings and generous volumes were retained, while the interiors were softened with a more fluid, contemporary language.

At the entrance, a black-and-white radial ceiling creates a graphic moment of drama, punctuating the otherwise restrained palette. Beyond, living and dining spaces open onto generous sit-outs, allowing sea breezes, changing light and surrounding greenery to become part of everyday life.

Muted sages, soft neutrals and oceanic blues echo the landscape, while gentle curves, natural textures and matte finishes bring warmth to the clean-lined interiors. Greenery is woven through the home, filtering light and framing views, while bespoke furniture and considered details keep the spaces quietly layered.

The result is a home that feels relaxed rather than styled—where the sea, the light and the rhythm of everyday life complete the design.
